Chyrean
The Chyrean Regent has held office continuously for four hundred years — not through immortality, but through the Successor Protocol, a ritual transfer of command authority that the Chyrean consider equivalent to continuity of self. This means Chyrean doctrine, Chyrean grudges, and Chyrean territorial ambitions are effectively permanent. Their matter-energy weapons are calibrated to suppress psionic interference, making them uniquely effective against races that depend on it. Their admirals have a bureaucratic term for retreat that requires countersignature from three separate ministries. Their fleet production is the envy of every military civilization in the cluster.

Gameplay Style: Chyrean
Chyrean is the most accessible military race in the game — no exotic environment, reasonable starting Sovereignty relation, and a balanced +20 Military / +10 Production bonus without catastrophic penalties in any area. Tactical Mastery and Militaristic Dominance make Chyrean fleets hit harder and sustain longer than their raw stats suggest. Run a 55/40/5 War Citadel/Forge/Void Nexus ratio to maintain production while building a strong fleet.
The -20 Research penalty means you will lag behind tech-focused races like Rekkan or Everian. Counter this by directing your research specifically toward the Imperial Doctrine category — Chyrean combat doctrine techs compound with Tactical Mastery to give you an outsized return. Avoid spreading research across multiple categories in the early game. Pick your target tech and stay locked on it.
Chyrean matter-energy weapons are purpose-built to defeat psionic defenses, making you a natural counter to Aeos, Midorians, and Ninthali. When choosing targets, prioritize races with high psionic ability — you will win those fights decisively. Your +20 morale modifier and low Berserk (+5) keep fleet behavior predictable, which lets you execute coordinated attacks that more volatile races cannot manage.
